Women Build

About Women Build

Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that encourages women volunteers to further the home-building mission of Habitat for Humanity. Since its official creation in 1998, Women Build volunteers have constructed more than 1,900 homes around the world, and more homes are being built each year. In 2006, approximately 32,000 volunteers helped build an additional 160 Women Build houses. In 2007, more than 200 Women Build homes were completed.

In January 2008 HFH-MC launched its own Women Build program. HFH-MC held its first annual Women Build Week May 7-10, 2008 which included networking events, build days and a reception. In 2010 HFH-MC completed its first ever Women Build House, where women from around the community got together to raise funds and rehabilitate a house for a single mother and her daughter. HFH-MC’s Women Build program is still young and we need your help to continue to grow!

Building on our success in 2010, we are working on our second Women Build home in 2011. Women from around Montgomery County are working together to raise $60,000 towards the rehabilitation of a home.  The home suffered an severe fire and was donated to HFH-MC.  Work on the home began in July of 2011 and will go through the end of the year, at which time a low-income family will purchase the home with a 30 year, 0% interest mortgage.  Build days and other events on the Women’s Build home are happening now!
